In 1988 The Trojans released their second album, The Spirit of Adventure. The album was also released in Japan on Sony Records.
The band released Lumpi as a single from the album, & produced a video with shots recorded at Gaz Mayall's home & while they were on stage in London. This upbeat record is still played at ska discos to this day, and the video was shown on a number of TV channels in the UK and in Japan.
The BBC must of also purchased a copy of The Spirit of Adventure, as The Trojans were asked to record a BBC session with two of the album tracks, Acid Rain & Jericho Battle, getting the fully deserved Beeb treatment. The BBC versions were released as a limited edtion 12" single titled Phoenix, which was released with two other tracks on Gaz's Rockin Records, and it quickly became a collectors item.
The Spirit of Adventure was a huge success for The Trojans both at home & abroad, & the band appeared on TV adverts in Japan due its success, and Gaz Mayall became a big star. So much that posters of him & The Trojans could be seen all over Tokyo that particular year !
